INFO: Resident Evil is the first Resident Evil game to be released on the Nintendo Gamecube. It is a remake of the classic original released on the Sony Playstation way back in 1996. New features include:
Improved Graphics: photo-realistic characters, gorgeous pre-rendered backgrounds and creepy lighting and shadow effects allow for some genuinely frightening gameplay as you become absorbed into the game. Issues of dodgy character movement has also been sorted allowing for some unnervingly realistic people and enemies.
Improved Sound: the cracking of lightning, the groan of zombies, the hum of fans, the creak of doors, the whistling of the wind...everything has been given a sheen in the sound department to create as creepy an experience as possible. The music has also been improved due to the better technology and the voice acting is a lot less cheesy.
New Areas: as well as redesigned classic areas, there are whole new areas of the game to explore not seen in the original game, particularly around the outside of the mansion and within the woods of Raccoon Forest.
Defense System: pesky zombies gnawing at your neck? Well, at the tap of the button (or automatically if you prefer), your character can use a previously-assigned defense tactic to ward off your foe, be it a knife in the head or a grenade in the mouth.
More Extras: more modes to go back to, more secret costumes, more special weapons, more alternate endings and plenty of other little treats in store for the diligent gamer to uncover.
Loading Times: pretty much non-existent. The original always had pauses at the turn of a corner (much to the irritation of many a gore-hungry gamer). Now, there is no pause and, although the door animations are intact, I never minded them.

RELEASED: March 22 2002 (Japan), April 30th 2002 (US), September 13th 2002 (UK).
