INFO: Resident Evil 5 is the recently announced follow-up to Resident Evil 4. As details on the game remain scarce, this section will be expanded as more facts emerge.

FACTS:
The Saga Continues: the story continues on from where Resident Evil 4 left off, with the Las Plagas sample now in the hands of Albert Wesker and Umbrella preparing to make its return in pursuit of world domination.
Next Generation: the new installment is confirmed for next-generation consoles PlayStation 3 and XBox 360. A Nintendo Revolution release is yet to be confirmed but possible.
4-Style: RE5 will follow the same style of gameplay introduced in Resident Evil 4.
Chaos Ensues: producer Jun Takeuchi (who has worked on Onimusha 3, and RE1 and 2) sees Ridley Scott's 2001 film Black Hawk Down as an influence on the madness he hopes to recreate, as US soldiers face crowds of angry Somalis while trapped in a city.

THEORIES:
Zombies Return?: screenshots suggest that zombies have made a return, as the shadowy enemies have that kinda slouch, let's say. However, it has been hinted they expand on the talking enemies of RE4 and that they are being kept in the shadows as there are features to them yet to be unveiled.
Daylight Setting: its a bright, sandy town with a Mediterranean, possibly South American or Middle Eastern feel. Capcom hope to recreate the heat of the pounding sun with graphical tricks. However, darker alleys and buildings maintain that 'Resi' feel.
Chris Redfield: the main character is suggested to be Chris Redfield and mentions of the first Resident Evil game have fuelled this. If so, this game could represent the conclusion of the Umbrella arc of the story - though that was suggested when RE4 details were first shown...
