3 is the magic number - 17.02.06

Resident Evil celebrates its 10th Anniversary in March, so Capcom have marked the event to declare Resident Evil to be a very successful franchise indeed. Apparently, Resident Evil 4 has sold 3 million copies total across both Nintendo Gamecube and Sony PlayStation 2. The whole franchise has shifted a staggering 30 million units since the first game was released in 1996. That's about 8000 copies EVERY DAY. Not bad really...

...and the success seems set to continue, as UbiSoft have announced they are to distribute Resident Evil 4 for the PC. Its part of a deal with Capcom that will also see PC releases for Onimusha 3 and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition. Nice. Click here for all the info.

And finally, the third film in the movie franchise, Resident Evil: Afterlife, has undergone a name change. Now Resident Evil: Extinction will be directed by Russell Mulcahy (most recently director of Swimming Upstream, but he also directed Highlander, and ahem...Highlander II, as well as many an 80s music video). Jovovich and Anderson are still in place to return for respective acting and writing/producing duties.
